JOB SUMMARY
The Independent Living Educational Liaison (EL) develops and implements various learning activities to improve life skill and educational outcomes for youth who are referred for Independent Living services through Chester County Children Youth and Families and/or the Juvenile Probation Office. The Education Liaison is responsible for creating, implementing and teaching educational and recreational workshops (in person and/or virtual) and Youth Advisory Board activities (in person and/or virtual), and is an educational support for youth and the Chester County team. The Education Liaison provides case management for referrals of external (in-home) youth and/or a small case load of Independent Living youth. The EL promotes social connections and self-sufficiency. An essential member of the Chester Independent Living team, the Educational Liaison encourages youth to make “small but significant change” in everyday actions. The EL assists Chester youth in other areas as needed. Works a flexible schedule during workweek, workshops and YAB’s occur later afternoon/early evening. Regular travel is required.
EDUCATION
Bachelor of Social Work, Education or related field. Other degrees will be considered based on a combination of education and work experience.
EXPERIENCE
One (1) year work experience in the delivery of social service programming targeting youth and/or young adults and/or education. Relevant coursework, internship, or related experience will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
· Ability to build positive relationships through coordination and engagement with community members, groups, or stakeholders, or any combination.
· Ability to be culturally sensitive to the needs and diversities of multi-ccultural communities.
· Skills in typing, basic computer operations, Microsoft, PowerPoint, Excel.
· Knowledge of social services, child welfare and family systems services.
· Practices good customer service skills in all working relationships.
· Knowledge in facilitating classes and/or groups.
· Working knowledge of community resources and educational programs and services.
· Knowledge of at-risk youth-related issues, such as addictions, human trafficking, sexual orientation/identity, peer/social culture, human development, violence, teen pregnancy and gangs.
· Knowledge and understanding of flexible, diverse, traditional and non-traditional support, advocacy and intervention processes.
· Demonstrated proficiency in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and effective problem solving, advocacy and assessment skills.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
· Valid PA driver’s license with clean driving record with ability to use own vehicle, as required.
· Must be free from any communicable/infectious diseases.
· Provide a valid PA child abuse clearance, FBI check and Criminal Background Check.
QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
• Plans, creates, implements and teaches workshops and Youth Advisory Board (YAB) activities.
• Coordinates and attends college visits with youth.
• Engages with youth and staff in a respectful and trauma-informed manner.
• Communicates with Tabor IL Team to coordinate services with all youth.
• Provides case management and follow up for youth referred for classes, workshops and YAB.
• Provides support, advocacy and information to youth.
• Completes case notes, monthly reports, and all documentation for files as needed.
• Assists with transportation to workshops, YAB’s, etc. as needed.
• Completes incident reports accurately, as needed.
• Assists with Administrative tasks, as needed.
• Helps to develop a database of community resources and supports for youth.
