Community Advisory Board
What is a Community Advisory Board?
A Community Advisory Board is a group of volunteer stakeholders representing the communities within the geographical area where the Community Umbrella Agency (CUA) is located. This board is comprised of at least 12 members and includes residents, business owners, and religious and community leaders. Representatives from area schools, area social service providers, area medical providers, Police District Community Liaisons, City Counsel representatives, etc. may also be invited to serve. Community Advisory Board members are selected to help advise the CUA regarding the programs and services it offers as well as communicate the issues, concerns, and special needs of the communities they represent.
TCP COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD
The development our Community Advisory Board (CAB) is based on the fact that public child welfare systems need to partner with communities to provide the strongest, most accountable services to children, youth, and families.
Community Advisory Board Members are asked to:
- Provide information, input, advice and counsel to the CUA with the aim of promoting the well-being of children, youth, and families in the designated geographic area.
- Advise the CUA regarding programs and services it offers as well as communicate the issues, concerns and special needs of the community they represent.
- Provide an open forum for public input.
- Set community goals for performance of the CUA and integrated service system.
- Identify any unmet community needs or service gaps and assure that funds are used appropriately.
- Provide an important role in our quality improvement process by assisting in the development and evaluation of community satisfaction with the CUA.
What are we working together to achieve?
-
More children and youth maintained safely in their own homes and communities
-
More children and youth achieving timely permanency
-
A reduction in the use of congregate care
-
Improved child and family functioning
